February 5th
Hello all!
Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! Today and yesterday we have been busy in Kindergarten finishing up our investigation of patterns, and working on the letter H. Yesterday we worked on some patterns problems, in our Math books and on paper. We have also been incorporating patterns into our literacy centers.
We also played a game called "Fuzz Bugs" to practice extending and completing patterns. Here it is if you want to try at home!
Today we worked on writing the letter H, and practicing the sound it makes. Also, a very kind student brought in some art work to celebrate the Chinese New Year, as it is the Year of the Pig! So we read some books about Chinese New Year to learn more about how it is celebrated.
Reminders
1.) Tomorrow is the Grade 5/6 Makerspace Arcade (please see previous post for more info)
2.) Just a note about the cold! If it is colder than -20ยบ outside, students will NOT go outside. That means when supervision starts in the morning (7:45am) all students will be brought inside and supervised by their teacher.
3.) Friday February 8th is PM Kindergarten, and our last session of CAD for this round!
4.) **Note about Valentine's Day**
Next Wednesday February 13th students are welcome to bring in Valentine's day cards if they wish. A class list (with no last names) will be sent home with your student on Thursday. If you would like to participate in exchanging cards, please note the following:
- Please bring enough cards for every student in the class
- Please do not bring and candy/treats to hand out
If you do not wish for your child to participate in exchanging cards, please let me know ASAP. Please also let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
5.) AM Kindergarten will visit the library this Thursday, PM will go on Friday!
