Hello Kindergarten Families!

It's been another busy week here in the Kindergarten room. We did lots of important work this week, including looking at the letter "F" and how to write it, as well as continuing to practice counting to 10. We also started Social Studies this week and looked at the topic "I am Unique." We worked on self portraits of ourselves as a starting point for investigating ourselves. We read lots of books together this week (and we will for most weeks!) but the book "Only One You" guided our thinking about our Social Studies topic.

Next Week

Next week we will look at the letters E and D. We will also continue our investigation of Fall, and our Social Studies topic of "I am Unique." Wednesday and Thursday next week we will also have One World Drumming visit our school for a residency! On Tuesday we will also have some visitors to our classroom to help us practice getting on our coats and taking them off. Monday October 1st is also Orange Shirt Day! Please see the following message about what that means:

Orange Shirt Day: Every Child Matters, held October 1st this year at Cambrian Heights School, campaigns annually to keep the discussion going around all aspects of residential schools. This day is an opportunity to pause to remember and honour residential school survivors, and those whose lives were ended too soon.  We take the opportunity around this time to reflect on history, legacy and implications, discuss stories of survival and strength, and share ways we can work together toward reconciliation.

Reminders

1.) Monday October 1st is Orange Shirt day, please have your child wear orange to school.

2.) Friday October 5th there is no school (PD Day) and no school on Monday October 8th (Thanksgiving.)

3.) Please send in a pair of indoor shoes (labelled with your child's name) if you haven't already!

4.) Please also consider sending in a box of tissue if you haven't already for the classroom :)
