Hello Kindergarten Families!

Thank you to all of those who have already sent back Fee Sheets and are using the home folder! Please try to send the home folder every day if you haven't been already :)

Practice at Home

Yesterday the students had the opportunity to work on a little letter E activity. Students have been introduced to both the uppercase and lowercase E, but we are mostly focusing on the uppercase. The students brought home their worksheet yesterday, please feel free to complete it at home (if it's not finished) for more practice! The sheet can be turned into a pamphlet when it's complete.

A huge chunk of our work in Kindergarten is learning to write, recognize and say the letters of the alphabet. Please do not be concerned if your child's writing isn't perfect yet :) We will be working on the letters all year! If you do want to practice more at home, here are some tips:

- Always write letters top to bottom
- Use a starting point, this will help ensure students do not write letters backwards in the future
- Break down the letter into steps

Here is an example of how we write the letter E in steps, and by using a starting point:

Week Ahead

Next week we will look at the letter D! We will also continue to work on our topic of "all about me" by creating a book about ourselves. Our "One World Drumming" residency will continue next week as well. There will be a sharing performance on Thursday October 11th at 1:30pm to showcase all the drumming skills we have learned! Since this is during the PM Kindergarten time, we also invite the AM Kindergarten students to come back for the performance if they are able to do so! Parents and family members are welcome to attend the performance. If you are interested in learning more about what is happening in Music, please check our our Music Teacher's blog (Mrs. Andrews) here!

Reminders

1.) No School on Monday October 8th, Thanksgiving!

2.) Drumming showcase on Thursday October 11th at 1:30

3.) Friday October 12th is PM Kindergarten

4.) Please return fee sheets as soon as possible. We are also still looking for some demographic and consent forms to be returned. Please check home folders as these documents are needed by the office ASAP and are now overdue!

5.) As the weather begins to turn colder, and students arrive at school with more articles of clothing (hats, mitts, snowpants etc.) please consider writing your child's name on their clothing items (as much as possible.) Sometimes we have some clothing "mix ups" and students don't always recognize which items belong to them. It is helpful to have names written on the tags of items so that I can help sort out any mix ups :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend, Happy Thanksgiving!!!
