October 16th

Hello all!

Today was a great day in Kindergarten! Both classes had the opportunity to venture outside on another "fall walk," and we discovered that many of the trees are missing all of their leaves now! We also worked on table work in the morning (puzzles, math activity, letter matching & fine motor sorting), as well  as play centers later in the day. Today we also got new sketchbooks! Our first activity was to practice drawing a square, X and triangle. This activity is directly related to the EYE or Early Years Assessment which I am currently gathering data on.

For your information, here are some helpful documents about the EYE assessment!

This document explains more information about what the EYE is.

And this document (which you may have already seen) talks a little about who is involved with the EYE, and what we do with the results.

I will be sending home hardcopies of the above sheets this week for you to look at all well! Also, just a reminder that the EYE actual report will not be ready until December - at which time I will be meeting with each family individually to go over the results.

Reminders

1.) This Friday, October 19th is AM Kindergarten

2.) The PM class will be visiting the Library on Thursday, October 18th, and the AM class will be going on Friday October 19th. Please check at home for any library books. Students are encouraged to sign out one book at a time, and all books have a two week sign out period. There are many students with overdue books currently - please ensure returning books are in your child's backpack before or on the date of their visit to the library!

Have a great evening!

~ Ms. Weir
