Friday Forecast
Hello Kindergarten families!
The last two days have been very busy in the Kindergarten room. We have been working hard on literacy and math strategies this week. Yesterday we worked on learning how to write the letter H, and what sound it makes.
We also worked in our writing journals some more this week, and discussed a new reading strategy that we will be working on for the next few weeks called, "I see, I think, I wonder." This strategy is to help us access our prior knowledge when reading, so that we can make connections between what we are reading and our own experiences. We worked on the first step, what do you see? We tried this out by looking the front cover of the book "The Mitten" and noting all of the things that we saw on the cover.

Week Ahead
Next week we will continue to work on "I see, I think I wonder" and will be discussing the "I think" step. We are working on creating visuals for each step to help us remember. In Math next week we will be starting to look at patterns, and will be creating them and recording them in our Math journals.
Press Start
"Press Start" the musical will be performed on December 19th at 6:30 pm. All students in the school (including both AM & PM Kindergarten) are participating in the musical. Family members are welcome to come to watch the performance. There will also be a full dress rehearsal at 1:00 pm on December 19th that family members can attend as well. Since the dress rehearsal is during PM Kindergarten, AM Kindergarten will be welcome to come back to participate in the dress rehearsal as well!
Currently we are working on collecting items for costumes. An email was sent out recently about items that we are looking for to create costumes - please check the email and if you are able to, check at home for items you are comfortable lending to the school. There will also be more information coming home about a t-shirt colour we will request each group of students to wear (AM Kindergarten are sidekicks, and PM Kindergarten are villains) so stay tuned!
Reminders
1.) Next week are parent conferences! Booking for conferences will open through powerschool on Monday December 3rd. Conferences are Thursday night 3-8pm and Friday morning 8-12pm. During this round of conferences we will be discussing the EYE results of your student.
2.) No school next Friday December 7th (parent conferences)
3.) "All About Me" books were sent home yesterday - please have a look in home folders. They are yours to keep!
4.) A notice about the Book Fair was also sent home today/yesterday. Please check home folders!
