January 21st
Hello Kindergarten families!
Today was a very fun day, we worked on our first STEAM challenge. STEAM activities are those that are designed to incorporate a variety of fields (science, technology, engineering, art and math) and encourage students to creatively problem solve open ended tasks.
In order to connect to our investigation of fairy tales, we watched the story "The Little Pigs" today.
After watching the story, students were challenged to work in groups of three in order to create their own straw, stick and brick houses. We used a variety of materials to accomplish this task. We used plastic straws for straw, playdough and toothpicks/popsicle sticks for wood/sticks, and lego and magnet blocks for bricks.

After building our houses, we tried huffing and puffing to blow them down! All of the houses seemed to stay up, I think we are better builders than the three little pigs!
