Hello all!
It was a great week in Kindergarten! This week we focused on finishing up patterns, and our next Social Studies topic of communities. We discussed the term "community" and what it means. We recorded our ideas of community to make a collage:
We also looked at some books about communities, and practiced making connections between the books and our own communities and lives. We looked at this book:

and we talked about the different schools and how there are similarities and differences between our school and schools in different countries!
Week Ahead
Next week we will continue discussing community and what it means to us, and what type of communities we belong to. On Tuesday we will have a visit from a police officer, who will talk to us about how he helps the community. We will also start our next Math topic, which will be to work on 2D and 3D shapes. On Wednesday February 13th we will exchange our Valentine's Day cards and design some "mailboxes" to keep our cards in.
Reminders
1.) Wednesday February 13th is "Random Acts of Kindness Day" which is a spirit day to celebrate kindness. Dress in shirts with positive messages or sayings, or in a friendship theme if you would like to participate!
2.) No school on Thursday February 14th or Friday February 15th (Teacher's Convention)
3.) No school on Monday February 18th (Family Day)
4.) Please check your student's folder for information about exchanging cards on the 13th!
