Hello Kindergarten families!
This week in Kindergarten we continued to look at shapes, and the different attributes and characteristics they have. Today the AM class worked on creating some art after reading the book "Colour Zoo."
We also continued talking about communities, and discussed some more community workers, including doctors. The students thought that we could maybe create a doctor or veterinarian center in our classroom to use during center time. So this week we had some discussions about what that center might look like. Lately Ms. Weir has been changing some things in the classroom, so we also opened up the discussion to think about what other centers we might add or change. Students drew their ideas for centers in their sketchbooks.
Week Ahead
Next week we will continue to investigate communities, and start to look at other community workers that we see in our every day lives. We will continue to explore communities in our center time, as well as in some journalling and drawing activities throughout the week. Pink Shirt Day is also on February 27th, so we will be connecting our work on communities to this important event. We will be reading "We're All Wonders" as a school to help promote a sense of community in our school. In Math we will look at some more 2D shapes, and continue making our "shape booklet." We will also be continuing to work with 3 Left Feet on Tuesday and Wednesday, and will showcase our work on Thursday!
Reminders
1.) Wednesday February 27th is Pink Shirt Day - please wear pink to support anti-bullying
2.) On Thursday February 28th students will be showcasing their work through 3 Left Feet. Parents and family members are welcome to attend the following performances:
AM Kindergarten & the rest of "Group A" - Thursday February 28th @ 9:45 am
PM Kindergarten & the rest of "Group B" - Thursday February 28th @ 12:45 pm
3.) No school on Friday March 1st, PD day
4.) On Friday March 8th, and Friday March 15th, PM and AM Kindergarten respectively will be heading outside for a guided nature walk at 9:30 on both days. If you are interested in volunteering, (and are cleared through the office) please let me know ASAP. Thank you in advance :)
Have a great weekend everyone!
