Friday Forecast

Hello all!

We've had a great week in Kindergarten! This week we worked on the letter C, and put together our "Shape Books." We also started putting together some artwork that connects to our next Science topic, animal homes. The PM class spent some time today reviewing the different 3D shapes, and added to our shape collages as well. Our "Shapes in our World" bulletin board has evolved throughout our investigation, and we are now in the process of adding the 3D shapes we have discussed. 

Week Ahead

Next week we will work on the next "center starting" letter, O. In Math, we will finish up our investigation of shapes (and our Shape Books) and begin looking at measurement. Our trip to Butterfield Acres (on Friday May 3rd for AM) will be an exciting opportunity for us to continue exploring the topic of "animal homes" and how it connects our understanding of community and the world around us. On Wednesday May 1st, it will also be "Hats on for Mental Health Day." In honour of this, we will take some time to discuss some strategies for regulating our emotions, and read some picture books about keeping a "healthy mind." 

Reminders

1.) A quick note about shoes!

As the weather is warming up, many students are wearing running shoes to school as their outdoor shoes. This is great! However, if possible, please do not send your student in shoes with shoelaces if they are unable to tie them! 

Also, please also check in with your student about their indoor shoes. Some students are starting to outgrow their indoor shoes. Feel free to send a new pair of indoor shoes if your student indicates theirs are too small :) (And I will send the old ones home.)

2.) AM Kindergarten - please bring back field trip forms by Tuesday April 30th

3.) Wednesday is "Hats on for Mental Health Day" please wear a hat to show support for mental health 

4.) Friday May 3rd is AM Kindergarten - we will be going to Butterfield Acres!

5.) We have run out of purchased playdo in our classroom, so I was wondering if any parents/families would be interested in donating some home made playdo? If that sounds like something you would be interested in or able to do, please email me! Thank you in advance :)

6.) The next Family Dance will be on Saturday May 11th
