Hello Kindergarten Families!
We've had another week in Kindergarten just fly by! Throughout the week we continued to focus on animal homes, by reading some stories that connect to animal homes, and discussing our understanding of animal homes during carpet time.
During center time, students are also exploring their understanding of animal homes by creating habitats and acting out what happens in places like the farm, ocean or beach.
Yesterday we worked on another activity to explore the topic of length in Math. Students wrote their names on a piece of paper, and we compared the length of all of our names! We discussed how we had to use the grid paper to make sure each letter was the same size, and could compare the names accurately.

Some students are also exploring length using the snap cubes during center time!
While it was nice out, we went outside to use the new bucket of outside equipment we have recently acquired! We are practicing being responsible (and practicing some reading skills!) by taking turns checking off the items on the list when it's time to put them away.
Week Ahead
Next week we will start working on our research project on animal homes. In Math, we will also start to look at comparing the mass/weight of objects. During literacy centers and focused writing time, we will continue reviewing the alphabet and letter sounds, and work on the last few "center starting" letters (S, A, I, T, and J.)
