Friday Forecast
Hello all!
It's been another great week in Kindergarten! This week we focused on the letters I and J, worked on measuring and comparing items by weight, started our research projects and tried to enjoy as much outside time as possible! On Monday we went on a Spring Walk, and searched our school grounds for signs of Spring (throwback to when it was not super smokey outside ðŸ˜)
Someone even noticed two robins in a tree!
This week we started working on our first research project on animal homes! Students were divided into groups to work on researching the home of an animal. Yesterday their first job was to work together to use the ipad to search up their animal, and draw a picture of it in their scrapbook. We had a big group discussion in each class to decide which animals to research, so students have been mainly been divided into small groups based on their choice of animal. Ask your student what animal their are researching!
Week Ahead
Next week "Rocks & Rings" will be visiting us to do a residency for the whole week! Both the morning and afternoon class will have 30 minutes a day to work on learning how to curl with Rocks & Rings. Please check their website if you are interested in learning more about them.
Throughout the week we will change up our schedule a bit to accommodate for Rocks & Rings time. We will be starting off the day with a chunk of center time, that will combine our literacy centers (more academic based) as well as our more play based centers (which still include academic components!) Our research project will carry on throughout the week as well. Of course we will also make time for reading stories, and working on the letter S which is our last letter!
Reminders
1.) Please bring back the Fun Day BBQ form by Wednesday June 5th.
As mentioned in the last blog post, On Friday June 21st we will have our annual "Fun Day." Both classes of Kindergarten will be able to attend on this Friday. Students will get to spend the majority of the day outside, playing games and participating in activities organized by teachers.
The Kindergarten classes will also present a brief Learning Celebration in the morning to start off the day (which parents and family members are welcome to attend!) At the end of the day, we will also have a BBQ for students! All of these events will occur during regular Friday school hours (8:00 - 11:55)
To summarize, on Friday June 21st:
- Both Kindergarten classes attend
- Kindergarten Learning Celebration in the morning (aprox. 8:15 am, parents & family welcome to attend)
- Fun Day & BBQ will follow (8:45 - 11:55 and not for parents & family)
2.) Next week will be the last week that library books come home! All library books must be returned by June 14th.
Have a great weekend everyone!
