Friday September 20th
Hello Kindergarten families!
It's been another wonderful week in Kindergarten! Thank you to all who made it out to parent conferences today and last night (or have booked for next Wednesday.) If you have not yet booked a conference, there is still time available next Wednesday September 25th in the evening, or feel free to contact me to arrange another time to meet.
This week in Kindergarten we continued to work on patterns. On Monday we discussed "AB" patterns, which are patterns that have two attributes. We worked on some examples during a group discussion.
After our discussion, students worked on their first activity in their brand new visual journals! Their task was to create their own pattern in their book, by drawing or colouring.
If you are interested in working on patterns at home, click the picture below for a great game to practice extending patterns!
Week Ahead
Next week we will continue to look at patterns, and how they are embedded in our every day lives. We will also continue focusing on our topic of "all about me" during literacy activities, which will continue to include practicing writing and identifying our names. Next Friday September 27th is the school wide Terry Fox Run (which is AM Kindergarten.) PM Kindergarten will do a mini Terry Fox Run on another day next week, which is TBD!
Reminders
1.) Library books are coming home in the AM class. Unfortunately, the check-out computer broke and the PM class was unable to sign out books yesterday! We will go back when it is fixed!
We will visit the library every week - either on Thursday or Friday. Please send back library books when you are done reading them. Students will not be allowed to take home a new book unless their previous one is returned. Please check home folders for "overdue notices" which list the book that is currently checked out.
2.) Please continue to check home folders daily, and ensure they are in your child's backpack each day.
3.) Please check out this link: Cbe.ab.ca/highschoolengagement
The CBE is looking for feedback on high school demographics and zoning.
