September 13th
Hello Kindergarten Families!
We had a great week in Kindergarten continuing to explore our classroom. Throughout the week, we focused on our first Social Studies topic, "I am unique." We looked at our names, and read some books that connected to our understanding of our individual qualities.
On Monday, we used a variety of materials to practice writing our names.

On Monday, we used a variety of materials to practice writing our names.
In both classes we read "Just be who you are" by Todd Parr to open up a discussion about our unique qualities.
We also worked on our first math activity this week. Students were introduced to the concept of patterns, and we worked on making our first pattern!
Week Ahead
Next week, we will continue to explore the topic "I am unique" by working on some more detailed self portraits. In math, we will build on our understanding of patterns by continuing to create, extend and identify patterns with two attributes (AB patterns.) During morning table work activities we will continue to focus on recognizing and writing our names. Next Thursday September 19th and Friday September 20th are also learning conferences! Wednesday September 25th will also be available for sign up if Thursday and Friday fill up.
Reminders
1.) Please sign up for learning conferences if you haven't already! Learning conferences are an opportunity for you to sit down with your child's teacher to discuss their learning and share any important information. Sign up is available through powerschool. Please let me know if you have any trouble accessing sign up.
2.) No school Friday September 20th (due to learning conferences)
3.) Please continue to check home folders daily!
4.) The PM class visited the library today, please check backpacks for library books. Both AM and PM classes will visit the library next Thursday - so please send back library books before then. Students who have not brought back their book by Thursday will not be able to sign out a new one until the first one is returned.
Have a wonderful weekend!
