September 30th
Happy snowy day Kindergarten families!
Thank you to everyone who braved the snow to make it to school today! Today we had an exciting day - we worked on our first letter! We talked about the letter F today, and practiced saying its sound and writing it on whiteboards. Some students were also challenged to write some words that start with F.
Throughout the year we will be working on all of the letters in the alphabet. Each time a new letter is introduced, we will show students how to write both the capital and lowercase letter. We started with the letter F because it is one of the "frog jump capitals" which means it is one of a series of letters that starts with a straight line down! Here are the steps for writing a letter F:
Week Ahead
As some of you may know, today was Orange Shirt Day. Our school will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day on this Thursday October 3rd - so please have your student wear an orange shirt to school if possible. Throughout the week we will be discussing what Orange Shirt day means, and how we can show respect to First Nations people and culture. We will not be going into detail about residential schools, but students will be reading books and stories that discuss the topic for a child's perspective. We will also watch some short videos about Orange Shirt day, to help us understand what it means. Please take a look below if you are interested:
