Friday October 18th

Hello all!

This week in Kindergarten we have continued to focus on patterns and "all about me." Yesterday and Wednesday both classes had the opportunity to go outside and create come patterns using gathered materials found in our Naturalization Area. We also worked on a challenging math problem yesterday that you can see in yesterday's blog post :)

On Wednesday the morning Kindergarten class had their visit from our school nurse to give a presentation on hand washing. They had a great time testing out their hand washing skills using the fake powder germs!

Week Ahead

Next week we will be working on some writing in our visual journals. Students will continue thinking about their interests and unique qualities - and we will continue working on our "All About Me" books. In Math, we will work on another problem that has to do with patterns. Within the next few weeks we will move on to our next topic, which will be number sense - and the numbers from 1-10. We will also be taking another nature walk (on Tuesday) to observe some seasonal changes. We will be discussing the environmental changes we notice, and connect this to a scientific exploration of Fall.

Reminders

1.) Next Friday October 25th is PM Kindergarten

2.) Thursday October 31st is Halloween! On this day, students may wear a costume to school if they wish. Please note, the costumes must:

- Not include a mask, or anything that covers their face
- Not include weapons (guns, swords, knives etc.)
- Be appropriate for school, nothing too scary (eg. fake blood)

On this day we will not be "celebrating" Halloween, meaning there will not be any parties or candy/treats handed out. We might read a Halloween book and work on some pumpkin themed artwork, but no real festivities! Please do not bring any treats to share with classmates - we cannot hand out food at school. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!

Have a wonderful weekend!

~ Ms.Weir
