Friday October 25th
Hello Kindergarten Families!
It's been another fun and fast week in Kindergarten - we got up to a lot this week! On Monday, we talked about the letter P and tried writing in our visual journals this time. We recorded pictures of things that start with P on top of our writing as well.
Throughout the week, we also talked about Fall and how we know it is the season of Fall. We went outside on a Fall walk, and talked about using our eyes to spot signs of Fall. We noticed some different things that helped us to see it was fall, such as leaves on the ground, the colours of the leaves and pinecones on the ground.

On Friday, the PM class used our Fall walk as an inspiration to create some artwork with Fall leaves. We used pastels to draw the leaves and some paint to create a pastel resist - (the AM class will work on this on their next Friday.)
Week Ahead
Next week, we will continue discussing Fall, and talk about using our ears to hear the sounds of Fall. We will be going outside on a "Listening Walk" on Thursday. You might have guessed that we will be talking about our five senses, and how we use those to experience the world around us! See below for a game you can play at home if you're interested in practicing using your five senses. We will be finishing up our unit on patterns next week, and work on some more problem solving before we officially start looking at number sense in more detail. Our literacy focus will also be centered on making predictions next week - we will talk about using guesses to help us understand text, and do some writing in our visual journals to practice making predictions. We will also introduce the letter B! On Friday of this week, the PM students worked on a letter P pamphlet that is coming home in home folders - please check it out to see how your child's writing is coming along (AM class will work on one of these on their next Friday.)
