Friday November 8th

Hello all!

It was another great week in Kindergarten! A big thank you to everyone who sent in playdo - we got a ton stocked up now, and the students are so happy to have it as a center again :)

This week in Math we focused on number recognition of the numbers 1-3. During literacy centers, we used some of our awesome new playdo to represent numbers 1-10 with their symbols, as well as with a ten frame.

On Wednesday, we did a focused math lesson on representing the numbers 1-3 specifically. We went over how to write the numbers, as well as what those numbers actually mean.

Throughout the week, we also talked about Remembrance Day, and what it means. We sang a song about peace, and journaled about what peace means to us. We also worked on creating a poppy wreath in each class. We made poppies using coffee filters and watercolours - Ms.S helped us put them all together!

This week we also took some time to record what we have been doing during center time in our "Explore Journals." Every day, students have 45-60 minutes of center time, in which they can free play at a variety of centers. Our "Explore Journals" are where students will be recording their thoughts and experiences about what they are doing, so that they are accountable for the learning that happens during center time.

Week Ahead

Next week we will continue working on numbers 1-10, and we will specifically look at the numbers 4-6. On Tuesday, Ms. S will be working with us on the letter R! Throughout the week we will continue journalling in our "Explore Journals." We will also be doing a "STEAM" challenge next week on Thursday - which stands for Science Technology Engineering Art and Math. Hopefully if the weather improves - we will try going outside again next Thursday as well!

1.) No school Monday November 11th

2.) Friday November 15th is PM Kindergarten
