Friday November 22nd

Hello Kindergarten Families,

It's been another great week in Kindergarten! On Monday we discussed the letter N, and practiced writing it in our visual journals. 

We continued our tower exploration this week, and worked on creating some art using lego blocks to explore some different structures. We practiced stamping with the blocks as a center, and then created some individual works of art on Thursday.

Since starting to work on towers, the building center has been looking amazing!

This week, the AM Kindergarten students met with their grade 3/4 buddies! Last week the PM class worked with their buddies. During "buddies," each Kindergarten student is paired with one or two Grade 3/4 students. This week and last week the Grade 3/4 buddies helped us to upload some of work to Iris (information about Iris was emailed yesterday.) We will keep the same buddy pairings throughout the year, and look forward to seeing them again soon! Ask your student if they can remember their buddy(ies.)

Week Ahead

Next week we will be looking at the letter M and how it stands for "mittens." We will read the book "The Mitten" and use the story to practice making predictions and connections between stories. The story will also become part of our "literacy center" activities that we work on first thing each day. In Math, we will continue to focus on the numbers 1-10, and we will on an activity to practice applying our understanding of numbers to problem solving. Our Tennis Residency will also continue next week, and both classes of Kindergartens will continue to do 30 minutes of Tennis Monday - Thursday! It has been a ton of fun :)

4.) Just a heads up - AM Kindergarten ran out of time to visit the library yesterday, my apologies!!! We will visit the library for sure next week :)
