January 6th

Welcome back to Kindergarten everyone!

Today was a great day getting back into our routines. We took some time to share in both classes about what we did over the Winter Break - it sounds like everyone got up to lots of fun :)

We also reviewed some of the letters we have discussed in class so far today. Students worked on writing the letters on whiteboards, and we practiced saying the letter sounds and coming up with words that started with the letters we reviewed.

So far, we have worked on targeted lessons for a little under half of the letters. We will be continuing to introduce letters individually over the coming weeks, in order to work on writing them with explicit instructions. However, we also incorporate many different letters and letter sounds in our daily work and conversations.

Letter recognition is great to practice at home if you ever have time as well! Practicing recognizing and naming letters when reading books to your child is a great way to review letters, or going on letter scavenger hunts at home or out and about. Alternatively, here are some online games to practice at home if you are interested as well; click this link to check them out!

Reminders

1.) Please send back library books ASAP so that we can take account of any missing books

2.) This Friday January 10th is AM Kindergarten

Have a great evening!
