February 20th - Literacy Samples Coming Home!
Hello all,
Today please check home folders for a literacy sample of your child's work from February. This sample was completed on Monday. Students were asked to draw a picture of what they did over their five day weekend, and add some writing on the bottom. This was many students' first attempt at writing, so we will have lots of time for growth! In the top corner, there will be a B for Beginning, D for Developing or A for Applying, to indicate the level of their work. These words have been added to our target, to help students begin to self assess their work.
The visual exemplars below are currently displayed in our classroom, to help students understand where their writing and drawing is at. In the example, I am showing a B, D and A level of work showing the sentence "I went to the store." The text boxes provide detail about what can indicate a B, D or A.
Please take a look at your child's sample in their home folders - and of course let me know if you have any questions or concerns! The sample is yours to keep, and doesn't need to be sent back :)
Reminders
1.) Tomorrow February 21st is PM Kindergarten
2.) Next Tuesday February 25th is "Dress Like your Favourite Character Day." Please feel free to dress up like your favourite book character! (Please make sure it is a book character)
3.) Wednesday February 26th is "Pink Shirt Day." Please wear pink to show support for anti-bullying!
Have a great evening!
