Friday Forecast
Hello all!
This will be a bit of a different blog update - I unexpectedly had to be away on Friday and left my ipad at school, and therefore don't have access to any pictures from this week unfortunately. So my apologies for the lack of pictures in this blog post!
Anyways, we were busy as usual in the Kindergarten room this week! We started a new art project that is drawing on our understanding of shapes.
We also have been working a lot on our writing over the past few days. Currently, we are focusing on using the strategy "Big Bold and Bright." We are working on ensuring we add lots of detail to our pictures, and that our pictures match what we are trying to write about.
In Math this week, we started a new project as well. We have been looking at different shapes within houses, and have practiced searching for shapes using our smartboard.
This week students were challenged to create their own house our building out of shapes. They have cut out a lot of different shapes, and played around with them to see what they can create. Next week, we will work on gluing them down to create the final look!
Week Ahead
Next week is a super short week because of Teachers' Convention. We will work on finishing up our shape houses in math, and start to get ready to transition back to a focus on numbers to 10. We will continue focusing on drawing clear pictures in our writing books. We will also introduce a writing center next week, and start working on some independent writing during center time!
Reminders
1.) We will allot some time to exchange Valentine's Day cards on Wednesday February 12th next week. If you are interested in having your child participate, please ensure:
- They bring enough cards for all students (AM class has 23 students, PM has 22)
- Please do not bring any candy or food treats to hand out
We are also not handing out class lists for names, please just address the card to "friend" or just have your student sign their name.
2.) Next week there is no school on Thursday February 13th and Friday February 14th (Teachers' Convention)
3.) No school Monday February 17th (Family Day)
4.) Ms.Weir made a huge mistake and forgot to go to the library with the PM Class on Thursday!!! My apologies, we will make sure we go next week!
