March 30th

Hello Kindergarten families!

Thank you for your patience as we have worked through some necessary planning in preparation for resuming structured learning opportunities for your child. I understand there has been plenty of uncertainty about what learning is going to look like moving forward. I can assure you that we are going to work on key learning outcomes at-home within the parameters established by the province and CBE.

Today and tomorrow, myself, Ms. Rosy (our classroom Education Assistant) or Mrs. Dechant (our physical education teacher) will be contacting you directly either by phone or email to find out more information about your family’s access to technology. Here are the questions we will be asking:
  • How are you doing? Are there any community resources I can help you locate?
  • Does your child have access to a computer, laptop, iPad/table, smart phone? Do you have access to a printer?
  • Does your child have access to the Internet?
  • Is your only option a paper-based education for your child?
Later this week you will receive information from me regarding a weekly learning plan. Each week’s plan will highlight what we are working on, will include various resources and will explain the activities or tasks I would like your child to work on.

I will primarily be communicating with you over email, but intend to mainly use D2L to share the learning plans, and if necessary, I will replicate lessons into a paper format.

If you can, try accessing D2L now to see you if you can log on. Click here to access D2L, and log on with your child's CBE ID# and password. This will be the same log on information as they use to get onto Iris!

I recognize this is new for most of us and we will get through this together. I am here for your child and look forward to being in regular contact with your child and yourself.

If you would like to take the initiative to email the answers to the above questions before some one contacts you directly that would be helpful for us to gather information as quickly as possible! Otherwise we will be in touch shortly.

Thank you and talk to you soon,

Ms.Weir
